If you have been waiting for Destiny 2: Shadow and Order’s release, you will have to wait a little longer. The game’s developer announced on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, that it had been delayed until June 9, 2026, saying it was “undergoing large revisions”.

“This update is being changed and expanded to include sizable quality-of-life updates and, as a result, will also be renamed,” the developer announced on X. “This update will now launch on June 9, 2026.”

“We will provide exact details closer to release covering previously announced Weapon Tier Upgrading, but also additions like expanding Tiered Gear to all Raid and Dungeon activities, Pantheon 2.0, Tier 5 stats for Exotic Armors, and more.
“Through June, we will continue to have routine bug fixes and stability improvements, continued portal modifiers, Guardian Games (March), and the return of a more frequent Iron Banner cadence (April).
“In terms of communications, we will be focusing on providing you with updates about our live game content, community activations, and general upkeep through the TWID and our Destiny social channels.”
The developer promised to provide more information in the next major update. Also, future plans for Destiny 2 will be revealed closer to launch.
Official Destiny 2 delay confirms previous rumors

Back in January, multiple reports suggested that the game would be delayed so that it wouldn’t cannibalize the sales of Bungie’s Marathon. It has also been revealed that there will be crossovers between both games.
Destiny 2: Shadow and Order was previously scheduled for release on March 3, 2026. The upcoming release was part of the Year 8 “Year of Prophecy” roadmap. Hopefully, the additional three months will be worth the delay when it finally launches.
