The intense tactical, first-person shooter, Ready or Not, which launched on PC on December 13, 2023, landed on consoles on July 15, 2025. According to the VOID Interactive CEO, the game sold 1 million copies on consoles in less than four days.
“1 Million Units on Console,” Rodriguez announced on LinkedIn. “When we launched Ready or Not on PC, it took about 36 days to reach 1 million units sold. On console, it took about 3.6 days. I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished together. It’s a huge moment — and one we don’t take for granted.”

“Game reviews are holding strong as we head into our first weekend, and the team is already hard at work ironing out issues and continuously improving the experience. To our players, partners, and everyone who believed in the project — thank you.”
Talking about reviews, the game has enjoyed a better reception on consoles compared to PC. It has amassed an average Metascore of 83 on Xbox Series X and 82 on PS5. This is fractionally better than the 79 it scored on PC.
On the other hand, Ready or Not’s review on Steam has recently tanked, sliding down from “Mostly Positive” to “Mostly Negative”. One reviewer named Dirty Harry said the PC version’s graphics have been downgraded while key story content has been censored in the developer’s attempt to get ESRB rating approval for a console disc release. This sentiment was echoed by other reviewers.
Ready or Not involved the actual S.W.A.T team in development
One of the things that players love about Ready or Not is that it accurately captures the police experience. Little wonder there is outrage over the censoring of content that has taken a chunk out of the supposed realistic experience.
To make the game more realistic, the development of Ready or Not involved the actual Los Angeles S.W.A.T. team, as disclosed by Mitch Cohen, the executive creative director at Yellowpike Media.

“We’ve been extremely lucky getting opportunities to produce lots of #EXPERENTIAL BRAND CONTENT over the last few years and our latest partnership with VOID Interactive and Lurkit for the ‘Ready or Not’ console release may be our most authentic IRL creative content yet,” Cohen wrote on LinkedIn.
“With help of the actual Los Angeles S.W.A.T. team, we put content creators through authentic police training to help improve their in-game strategy.”
“The LSPD reports a massive upsurge in violent crime across the greater Los Sueños area,” read the game story narrative. “Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams have been dispatched to respond to various scenes involving high-risk hostage situations, active bomb threats, barricaded suspects, and other criminal activities. Citizens are being advised to practice caution when traveling the city or to stay at home.”
“In response to the burgeoning violent crime wave inundating Los Sueños, Chief Álvarez of the LSPD has enlisted the stalwart support of David ‘Judge’ Beaumont as the Commander of the LSPD SWAT team. Shortly following this announcement, the LSPD has also confirmed active recruitment for additional talent to join this specialized tactical police unit with the mission of bringing peace back to the city.”
