Nintendo wants to churn out 20 million Switch 2 consoles by March 2027, representing a 20% increase from what the company reported in its financial results earlier this month, according to a Bloomberg report.

In the latest financial results, the Kyoto-based company said it expects to sell 16.5 million Switch 2 consoles in its next business year, which runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. In the last financial year, the company sold 19.86 million.

“For them, there is no real downside in lowballing numbers first and then surpassing them later,” said industry analyst Serkan Toto to Bloomberg. “The just-finished fiscal year is a good example.”
Switch 2 price hike takes effect on September 1, 2026

Earlier in May, Nintendo announced that it would raise the retail price of the Switch 2 across different markets, including the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. The new price will reflect on September 1, 2026, pushing the price of the console up by $50 to $499.99 in the United States.

Europeans will pay €30 more (€499.99), while Canadian players will have to pay $679.99, an increase of $50, just like in the United States. The price change will come to Japanese players earlier (as early as next week). The price of the ‘Japan-only’ region-locked version will rise to ¥59,980. The new prices of the different SKUs are as follows:
- Switch OLED ¥47,980
- Switch Lite to ¥29,980
- Standard Switch ¥43,980
“In light of changes in market conditions, and after considering the global business outlook, Nintendo will revise the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) of the Nintendo Switch 2 system and Nintendo Switch systems,” the company said.
