Microsoft has revealed the date for the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Like last year, where the show was followed by a Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Direct, this year will also be a double feature with a direct from Obsidian’s next release coming immediately after the showcase.
The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m. PT /1:00 p.m. ET /6:00 p.m. BST. The showcase will be followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. Unlike last year, when the name of the game that was getting a direct was kept a mystery, this year the console maker and publisher decided to name the game.

“It all begins with our annual Xbox Games Showcase, bringing you a look at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners around the globe,” the publisher said in the upcoming video description.
“Immediately following Showcase, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.”
The Outer Worlds 2 is the sequel to the award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG. It will build on the success of the first installment and feature action-packed adventure in a new colony with an even newer crew—including improved graphics, obviously.
The trailer, which was released back in December 2024, gave players a peek into the large arsenal of weapons that will be present in the game. It was said that it took three times longer time to make compared to the first game. Also, the sequel will be twice the size of the first.

In addition to ranged weapons, The Outer Worlds 2 will also feature melee combat using your fist or other weapons. The release date will likely be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 or during the direct. See the game’s trailer here.
