In recent years, October has become one of the biggest months for video game releases. Last year, Silent Hill 2 remake, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Neva, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, among others, were released around this time.

This year is offering even more, including the follow-up to the critically acclaimed title Ghost of Tsushima. While there are over two dozen games lined up for release this month, we have trimmed the list to a manageable number—6.

If you don’t have the luxury of time on your hands or have a limited budget for video games, this list is guaranteed to help you get the bang for your buck. Without further chitchat, let’s dive in!

#1. Ghost of Yōtei (October 2) — PS5 Exclusive

Slashing open a busy October video games calendar is Ghost of Yōtei, a standalone sequel to the 2020 masterpiece, Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch Productions delivered yet another masterpiece, and the reviews have been wild, with the Metascore standing at 87 from 108 reviews.

Despite the positive reception, sequels always suffer from over comparison to the first installment, and Ghost of Yōtei is facing the same fate. The more expensive Collector’s Edition includes a ghost mask, a sash, a tsuba, a papercraft, a ginkgo tree, art cards, a Zeni Hajiki coin game, and a pouch. Will you fall for it?

#2. Battlefield 6 (October 10) — PC, XSX, PS5

It has been nearly seven years since the last entry in the Battlefield series. Gamers who have been anticipating will finally suit up and shoot their way through the conflict involving a private military company called Pax Armata and fractured NATO. The release is coming on the heels of a historic acquisition that will see Electronic Arts become a private company.

Battlefield 6 beta test set impressive records on Steam back in August, with those fortunate enough to be part of the beta test raving about the upcoming entry. Battlefield 6 is set to give other first-person shooters a run for their money.

#3. Little Nightmares 3 (October 10) — PC, XSX, PS5, NS, NS2

If you are not cut out for the high-octane, fast-paced blood and gore violence that comes with FPS games, Little Nightmares 3 provides an alternative for you. It launches on the same day as Battlefield 6. Little Nightmares 3 will be the first in the series to be developed exclusively by Supermassive Games, after the original developer, Tarsier Studios, was moved to the development of a new IP called Reanimal.

This time, gamers will follow the story of Low and Alone, two best friends in search of a way out of the Nowhere. Although this is a co-op game, it is possible to play solo with an AI. Are you sold on it?

#4. Ninja Gaiden 4 (October 21) — PC, XSX, PS5

It has been a year of the ninjas with Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance previously released. Ninja Gaiden 4 is set to switch up the tempo away from the 2D experience of the previously released ninja games. Co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, this action-adventure is the seventh mainline entry in the series and a direct sequel to the 2012 Ninja Gaiden 3.

The developers have hinted that the upcoming release will build on the gameplay mechanics of the previous releases, but introduce new skills and faster combats. If video games with ninja themes hit your sweet nerves, this is a title you don’t want to miss.

#5. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (October 21) — PC, XSX, PS5

The Chinese Room, the studio behind the multi-award-winning game, Still Wakes The Deep, is releasing Vampire: The Masquerade sequel on October 21. You will play as Nomad, an elder vampire who has just awakened from a century-long slumber and is dazed by the modern nights. You will explore 21st-century Seattle through the eyes of a vampire detective, Fabien, trapped in your Blood and Nomad.

This is one of the games where your screens are always painted red with fluids from your decapitated enemies. While you satiate your taste with the blood of your lured enemies, you have to be cautious of breaking the Masquerade and risking reprisal, starting with law enforcement.

#6. The Outer Worlds 2 (October 29) — PC, XSX, PS5

The Outer Worlds 2 is a creation of Obsidian Entertainment and is a standalone sequel to the 2019 release. The game was set in the Arcadia star system, which was colonized entirely by megacorporations. Playing as an Earth Directorate Agent, players will try to uncover the source of an emerging conflict that threatens the existence of the colony.

Just like the first game, the upcoming release will feature a first-person play, while alternating between stealth, combat, and a dialogue system, which can influence your story. The development of The Outer Worlds 2 began shortly after the release of the first game. Will you be flying to the outer worlds on October 29?
