Since the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1 Update back in November, the EA team has closely watched discussions around cheating in the game. To provide players with credible information on the matter, the developer releases anti-cheat metrics regularly.

The latest release shows that the Match Infection Rate (MIR), which tracks the percentage of matches across the game that were negatively impacted by at least one cheat, started at 2.535% in December but fell to 2.025%% during the month. Towards the end of the holiday period, the number rose to 3.090%, representing a roughly 50% increase from its previous low.

The Battlefield 6 developer also revealed that the EA Javelin Anti-Cheat prevented 580,389 cheat attempts in December. The company also tracked 224 cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and their associated communities.

“Of those, 206 of them (91.2%) publicly reported feature failures, detection notices, downtime, or fully took their cheats offline,” EA explained.

“We’re now moving into the new year with continued focus on detection, prevention, and enforcement. You can expect our next update covering January’s metrics in roughly a month’s time, with more detail to help keep you informed.”

The spike in Battlefield 6 cheat attempts in December may not be unconnected with the increased gaming activities during the holiday season. EA said the spikes may happen when cheat developers find new vulnerabilities to exploit or create new cheat programs.

“Metrics can improve when we update reporting flows, release new detections, add telemetry, or gain a deeper understanding of how specific cheats work,” the Battlefield 6 developer clarified.

“On the other hand, they can deteriorate when cheat developers identify gaps in detection, leverage new or reintroduced bugs or exploits in our systems, or develop new methods of cheating. These fluctuations are expected and help guide where we focus our efforts.”
