Capcom previously announced a lecture titled “Monster Hunter Wilds runs smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization,” at the CEDEC, the largest game developer conference in Japan. However, that plan has now been shelved.

According to a report by Automaton, the lecture was supposed to explain Capcom’s recent advancements in performance and optimizations. The cancellation is coming days after the video game maker and publisher issued a statement alleging several direct threats to its staff over the game’s performance.

The performance of Monster Hunter Wilds tanked following the introduction of the recent Free Title Update 2. This led to severe backlash on social media. Although Capcom didn’t disclose that the cancellation was related to the backlash, the timing of the statement following the cancellation implies the events may be related.

Last Friday, the publisher released a statement saying, “We take customer opinions and requests seriously, as they are indispensable for improving our products and services, and we strive to improve quality”.

“On the other hand, we have confirmed instances of slander, libel, denigration, intimidation, threats to harm or disrupt business, and harassment against our executives and employees by name. Furthermore, in severe cases, we may contact the police or lawyers and take legal action, including criminal proceedings.”

Capcom has already deployed a patch that fixed most of the performance issues that led to the backlash. However, there are still players facing various degrees of challenges during gameplay.

Capcom is teasing two new events for Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom has confirmed two new events for Monster Hunter Wilds and will offer limited-time rewards for players who participate. The release of the two free Title Updates has brought with it new monsters, outfits, and new game modes.

Capcom introduces three to four new limited-time events every week, giving players a chance to get exclusive prizes. The live-service element of the game allows Capcom to rotate these events with the addition of new modes to the cycle to freshen the experience.

In a recent social media post through the game’s official X handle, the developer teased two new upcoming limited-time events for Monster Hunter Wilds, which will run from July 8 to 22.

One of the events starting today is titled “An Inferno Laid Bare”. It will require players to hunt a Nu Udra in the Oilwell Basin at HR 31 or higher. The loot from a successful attempt will allow the player to craft the Pinion Necklace α, a shirtless chest armor for Hunters, and the Felyne Bell Collar α (a new Palico body armor).

The second event is a 5-star Challenge Quest titled “Fleeting Bubbles”. This event will task players with slaying a Mizutsune in the Wounded Hollow at HR 21 or higher. The reward is exclusive pendants, depending on the player’s performance. Only those who complete the quest at the best times will get rarer variants.
