If you are a fan of the strategy turn-based empire-building game, Civilization, July 17 will be a great day for you. That is because you can get Civilization VI Platinum Edition, which comes with 6 DLC packs and 2 expansions for free.
For those who are not already aware, Epic Games Store gives out free games every week. What’s even more interesting is that players who download any game during the free week get to keep the game for life—or until Epic Games Store shuts down, at least.

From July 17 to 24, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Platinum Edition will be up for download on the platform. At the time of writing, Figment 2: Creed Valley and Sky Racket are both available for free download on the platform. Both games will leave the free download slot on July 17, and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Platinum Edition will take their place.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI was released in 2016. It was developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K. The game is also available on Mac, thanks to Aspyr. It tasks players to build their empire and advance their culture with the ultimate goal of going head-to-head against history’s greatest leaders—and defeating them.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI was positively received. It received a Metascore of 92 on iOS, 88 on PC, 87 on PS4, and 86 on both Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. In fact, it was better received compared to its successor, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, which launched on February 11, 2025.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII got an average Metascore of 79 on PC, 78 on PS5, and 76 on Xbox Series X. However, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI’s recent reviews on Steam have been mixed. The dissatisfaction appears to be coming from the recent update to 2K’s privacy policy, which many are skeptical about because it will allow the company to collect user privacy data during gameplay, using unethical means.
