“We know there is still a lot of work ahead of us, and we are super-motivated about it. We have a lot of exciting things cooking for Firebreak players! More about that soon.”

FBC: Firebreak is a first-person shooter set six years after the events of Control. The game, which revolves around a special unit of soldiers named Firebreak, is Remedy Entertainment’s first attempt at a multiplayer game.

“FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative first-person shooter set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by otherworldly forces,” read the description provided by Remedy.

“As a years-long siege on the agency’s headquarters reaches its boiling point, only Firebreak— the Bureau’s most versatile unit—has the gear and the guts to plunge into the building’s strangest crises, restore order, contain the chaos, and fight to reclaim control.”

FBC Firebreak 2

FBC: Firebreak launched on June 17 to a mixed reception. On Steam, the game had just over 1,400 Mixed reviews at the time of writing. On Metacritic, it scored an average of 65 across all platforms. Under the 1 million player post, there were lots of comments doubting the authenticity of the news, with some asking the developer to provide a player breakdown by platform.

“Are the million players in the room with you now?” asked @Mage_3x9

“100% do not believe it. You average 100 people playing it on Steam,” wrote @thx6969

“Every day, videogame companies give me more reasons to trust them less,” wrote @Odra_MH

“100 = 1 000 000? That’s some weird math guys,” wrote @CowboyEastern. “Or are you talking about the total amount of downloads from Game Pass of which almost none of them actual paid for the game? Or even played?”

According to SteamDB stats, FBC: Firebreak had a peak concurrent player count of 1,992, and less than 100 people were playing the game at the time of writing.
