Reactions have continued to trail the 50% price hike of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. While some believe the price hike is reasonable, considering the perks that have been added to the tier, others think it was a big enough deal for them to cancel their subscription.

Amid the wrangling, GameStop said it will continue selling Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $20. Some already interpret this gesture as meaning the retailer agrees with angry gamers that the price hike was not worth it.

“We will continue to sell Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $19.99/month in-store and online,” the company posted on X. They commented below the post with a link for players to purchase an Xbox Game Pass 1 Month Ultimate Membership.

To sweeten the offer, gamers who are GameStop Pro Members (a subscription service that costs $25/year) can get a 5% discount, which will drop the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price to $18.99 a month.

It’s not clear how long GameStop will keep up with discounting the Ultimate tier because someone has to pay the remaining $10. Perhaps, this is also a way of attracting more customers to their store with the bet that they can make enough profit elsewhere to continue discounting the Ultimate subscription. Another possibility may be that they still have old stock that they want to dispose of.

No doubt, embittered Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will most likely turn to GameStop to keep their subscription running without bearing the 50% price hike burden.
