For nearly 20 minutes, over 500,000 people were glued to their screens for the special State of Play on Ghost of Yotei deep dive. The show was hosted by Sucker Punch’s Creative Directors, Jason Connell and Nate Fox. Everything from gameplay to weapons was showcased.
One feature that would likely stand out for players is how you could switch between worlds with just a tap of the button. Anytime Atsu returns to her childhood home, players can relive her memories and see what her home used to be before it was destroyed by the Yotei Six, the same group she has now vowed to slaughter.

Sucker Punch said Ghost of Yotei will be a story-driven game. However, this post is not about retelling the story of the showcase. Instead, we are here to highlight Sucker Punch’s collaborations and how they will shape the Ghost of Yotei experience for players.
Two tracks from Ghost of Yotei deep dive is now available to stream
The immersive experience of games will not be complete without the soundtrack. The score of Ghost of Yotei was brought to life by the legendary composer Toma Otowa with the help of various talented artists. For this game, Otowa infused Western flavors into Eastern instrumentation. Sucker Punch has released two tracks featured in the Ghost of Yotei deep dive on streaming service. Unfortunately, the exact platforms where they will be available weren’t mentioned.
Relive the Japanese cinema experience
Sucker Punch is partnering with legendary director Akira Kurosawa’s estate for Kurosawa Mode. This mode emulates the classic black and white colors found in Kurosawa’s movies. At the beginning of the game, players will be presented with “Select an Experience” option in the menu. The Kurosawa Mode can be turned on by choosing the “Samurai Cinema” option. In addition to the black and white experience, players will get a full Japanese voice track with full lip sync.
Miike Mode brings the battle closer to the camera
Sucker Punch is also recognizing Takashi Miike, the director of 13 Assassins, who has played an important role in advancing the genre. The Mike Mode will bring the camera closer during combat. In this mode, players will also experience more blood and mud splatter, adding more realism to the feeling.

Watanabe Mode allows players to listen to lo-fi beats
In Ghost of Yotei, Players can choose to listen to lo-fi beats during exploration and combat, especially if they find the screens of characters distressing or tired of listening to nature during exploration. This mode was made possible through a partnership between Sucker Punch and the director of Samurai Champloo, Shinichiro Watanabe. The tracks available to players are directed by Watanabe.

“The design captures the essence and aesthetic of kintsugi, symbolizing beauty in imperfection and mirroring Atsu’s own personal journey of healing and resilience amidst the adversities she’ll face along the way,” wrote Erika Paterson, Senior Director, Product Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment.
These bundles include a PS5 console with Limited Edition console covers, a Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller, a voucher for a digital copy of the game, and pre-order incentive items.
“The PS5 Console – Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition Bundle will be available globally, and is inspired by the Japanese art form, kintsugi, a traditional process to repair broken ceramics with lacquer and gold,” Paterson confirmed.
“The PS5 Console – Ghost of Yōtei Black Limited Edition Bundle will be exclusively available at direct.playstation.com. This version draws inspiration from another Japanese traditional art form, Sumi-e, which is the use of black ink on paintings.”
