Helldivers has been trending recently, and that’s because videos of players spawning infinite stratagems at once to the point that it crashes the game have been circulating online. Arrowhead Studios was forced to release an “emergency hotfix” to squash the bug.
It wasn’t particularly clear if the issue came with the recently released Illuminate invasion update or it has always been there but only recently discovered. None of that matters anymore though.

Arrowhead’s Katherine ‘Baskinator’ Baskin, the studio’s social media and communications manager, disclosed the emergency hotfix through Helldivers 2’s Discord server, as reported by VG247. The hotfix comes with a single patch note, which reads “fix for the Stratagem spamming bug that caused severe crashing”.
The infinite stratagem spawning bug had ignited a faceoff between players. According to PC Gamer, players started crashing each other’s game by dropping hundreds of mechs or airstrikes on the battlefield. People started to share clips to show others how it is done. It was so bad that clips shared under the Helldivers 2 subreddit was banned by moderators.
“Everyone and their mothers, spouses, and children have all seen and heard about the exploit,” wrote moderator OmegaXesis in a post outlining the ban.
“We do not need hundreds of images and videos flooding the subreddit showing us your undemocratic explosions. It’s become a nuisance. The developers are aware of it, and it doesn’t need to be shown or explained how to reproduce it.
“Please refrain from using this glitch in public missions. Your PC might handle it fine, but there are many people whose PCs cannot handle it. It can cause them to crash and ruin their fun. Be nice.”
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Helldivers 2 announced that new offers were available in the Superstore, including an armor set, a cape, and a player card. According to them, they are “Guaranteed to keep you alive, or your Super Credits back!” The developer also announced the release of The Masters of Ceremony Premium Warbond on the same day.
