Although Xbox Series X|S launched on November 10, 2020, Microsoft has continued to add new features to the consoles. In the June 23, 2025, update, Microsoft added Game Hubs, which is meant to provide relevant information about any selected game, including player stats, achievements, friends currently playing, recent captures, available add-ons, events, and more.

However, the Game Hubs feature turned out to be unpopular among a lot of gamers in the Xbox community. According to them, it only succeeded in adding another layer of obstacles that they must scale before they jump into their game.

Game Hubs will appear whenever a player selects a game from their recently played games list, groups, or installed games. Thankfully, players who feel that this feature is nothing but a distraction can easily turn it off.

How to deactivate the Game Hubs feature on Xbox Series X|S

Microsoft thoughtfully added a new setting that gave players the option to decide where Game Hubs should be enabled. To find the settings and disable the intrusive feature, follow the steps below.

  • On the home screen on your console, select the “My Games and Apps”.
  • Go to “Apps”.
  • Scroll to “Settings”.
  • Select “General”.
  • Then “Personalization”.
  • Choose “Games and Apps”.
  • Scroll to the right until you find three boxes under “Choose whether game hubs open automatically from the following places.”
  • Uncheck all three boxes, namely, “Recently Played List”, “Groups”, and “Installed Games”

While the Game Hubs feature did not enjoy a positive reception, several other features launched with the update have been hailed by Xbox fans, including the addition of 15 more titles to “Stream Your Own Game”. Valheim, Nier: Automata, and Final Fantasy 16 have now been added to the growing list of supported titles.

Xbox handhelds

Microsoft is also working with several partners, including AMD and Asus, to build the next generation console and Xbox handhelds, respectively. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X were announced at the June Xbox Games Showcase.
