Barely a week after the closure of Dark Outlaw Games, Jason Blundell has announced a new studio called Magic Fractal. Details about the new studio are still sketchy, and the official website is nothing more than a help page at the moment.

Before Dark Outlaws, Jason Blundell had previously co-founded Deviation Games with Dave Anthony in 2020. PlayStation later partnered with the studio to create an original IP. Blundell left the studio in 2022 under unclear circumstances. He founded Dark Outlaw Games in 2024, but its demise was even faster than the first.

Notwithstanding the fact that little is known about Magic Fractal, interest is already swelling around the new company. At the time of writing, the company’s official X handle already has over 8,800 followers, without putting out a single post.
Jason Blundell revealed the new studio while on a stream with a work colleague and long-time friend Jordan Hall, aka JCbackfire. Jordan is a popular Call of Duty Zombie YouTuber who later became a junior game designer. It appears he will also be part of Blundell’s new studio.

Given that two previous studios failed without shipping a game, it was natural for people to be concerned about the third and to wonder why Blundell was so persistent. When the question came up on the stream, Blundell offered a memorable response.
“Third time’s the charm. And if not, it’s the fourth time”.
Magic Fractal currently has a page on virtually all major social media platforms, including Facebook. Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. However, its most followers are on X and YouTube.
