June 18 Nintendo Direct Will Not Mention Switch Successor

The next Nintendo Direct has been announced for Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The show, which is expected to last for around 40 minutes, will focus on titles that will be released on the Nintendo Switch platform in the second half of this year.

“A Nintendo Direct is on the way!” read the description on the livestream video. “Watch the livestream starting at 7:00 AM PT on 6/18 for around 40 minutes focused on Nintendo Switch games coming in the second half of 2024.”

If you are among those anticipating the announcement of a Nintendo Switch successor, we hate to inform you that you will have to wait longer as there will be no mention of that in the upcoming Nintendo Direct.

“There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation,” the publisher wrote in the video description.

Recently, Nintendo confirmed that it will announce its next console in this fiscal year, meaning the news is expected to arrive before April 2025. Last month, the company’s president Shuntaro Furukawa hinted about the June 18 Nintendo Direct in its financial results but also said Switch Successor will not be part of the presentation.

Nintendo Switch is now in its seventh year on the market which is considered the end of the console’s lifecycle. Nevertheless, it has continued to outperform the expectations of analysts in terms of sales.
