It appears we have entered the era of game delays. While GTA 6 fans were still grappling with Rockstar Games’ delay announcement, Skydance Games has also dropped another bombshell, telling fans the anticipated Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will no longer release in early 2026.
“At Skydance Games, our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and worlds we’re fortunate to work with,” read the statement shared by the developer on its X handle.

“Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect. To fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026.”
In the announcement, the studio promised to share more about the upcoming game as development progresses. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was first revealed during a 2024 Unreal Engine showcase at the Game Developers Conference.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is the latest adventure from Any Hennig, the writer and creative director behind the first three games in the Uncharted series. It will feature Khary Payton as Black Panther and Drew Moerlein as Captain America.
“In the chaos of war, worlds collide,” read the game’s official blurb. “Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy.”
“Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra.”
Fans started comparing Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra’s delay announcement to GTA 6’s delay, with one commenter saying, “Perfect timing lol. Rockstar will absorb all the backlash for you”.
