After a troubled launch followed by layoffs and lawsuits, Build A Rocket Boy has continued to listen to feedback from MindsEye players to overcome the issues the game faced at launch. The latest update released across all platforms on October 30, 2025, is over 28GB, except on Xbox.

“Thank you to everyone playing MindsEye, especially those taking the time to share feedback and report any issues,” the developer wrote in the patch note. “Your input really helps us understand what’s working, what needs improvement, and where to focus next.”

This is the fifth major update the game has received since launch. Several major improvements have been made to MindsEye with the latest update, notably the introduction of the new Launcher Page, which the developer said would make it easy for players to access the main campaign and browse featured ARCADIA missions. Another major content update is related to Halloween.
“Halloween hits Redrock with Going Haywire – Downtown, a fast-paced arcade shooter set on the city’s strip with chaotic Halloween energy as you switch weapons, rack up combos, and fight for the top score. The update also adds new ARCADIA content for both Standard and Deluxe Editions.”

Free Roam has been temporarily nerfed, with a promise that it would return soon. Besides new content, the latest MindsEye update has crushed more than 80 bugs across combat, NPC, missions, audio, UI/UX, visuals, vehicles, animation, and performance. The exact size of the update on different platforms is as follows:
- Steam: 28.3 GB (Version #: 5702549)
- Epic Games Store: 28.3 GB (Version #: 5702549)
- PlayStation 5: 28.1 GB (Version #: 1.0.25.7230)
- Xbox Series X|S: 12.9 GB (Version #: 01.012.000)
MindsEye may not be given a second chance
Build A Rocket Boy is doing everything possible to fix the issues faced by MindsEye during launch and get it back to profitability. However, it appears some players are not willing to give the game a second chance, regardless of how much it has improved.
“Sorry. There’s no way I’d ever come back to this IP,” commented @InPassing222 under the patch note. “Honestly, you just need to move on to the next one. Start less ambitious and work up to something big. Hell it’s not about graphics, if you made a game with graphics like San Andreas I’d play it. Story and gameplay matters.”
“The restrictions and terrible story and characters (NOT including the protagonist, he was amazing).. are dire. The ending is the worst I’ve experienced in my 30+ years. The truth hurts, but being honest is the only way to give the feedback needed to stop it happening again. Sorry.”

Another comment from @josfief also highlighted the issue with the story, “I don’t think it matters how much you fix the game, the story is boring and the gameplay itself is horrible. Fixing the bugs just makes it easier to play this awful game”.

The major issue with MindsEye is that Build A Rocket Boy spent more time on graphics than on actual gameplay, a problem that has become pervasive in recent years. This misplaced priority has also been linked to ballooning development costs.
MindsEye was the worst-rated game on Metacritic for a long time, until the release of Stormgate in August. There are still players who believe Build A Rocket Boy can pull a Cyberpunk redemption on MindsEye. It seems unlikely, though, since the major issue here goes beyond bugs to the story. Only time will tell.
