Nearly two years after its initial release, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that MK1 will get no further story DLC support, but that doesn’t mean they are done with the game. In a statement published on social media last weekend, the developer promised continued balance adjustments and fixes.
“We are hearing players’ requests for continued game support of Mortal Kombat 1, and, while we will continue to support MK1 through balance adjustments and fixes, there will not be additional DLC characters or story chapters released from this point on,” the developer shared on X.

“We understand this will be disappointing for fans, but our team at NetherRealm needs to shift focus to the next project in order to make it as great as we possibly can.”
Prior to the official announcement, rumors circulated that plans for future DLCs were put on hold after the poor sales of the Kombat Pack 2 and Khaos Reigns. The reality that this may be true became more evident when the release of the Definitive Edition was announced.
So, T-1000 Terminator, which launched back in March, has officially become the last character DLC for MK1. But, which character do you wish NetherRealm had brought to MK1? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
