Dispatch is the first game developed and published by AdHoc Studio. The narrative-driven, episodic superhero workplace adventure game was released on October 22, 2025, on PS5 and PC via Steam. However, it was only released on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 29, 2026. But the Switch 2 release has been marred by controversy.

It was widely reported that a lot of adult content in the game has been censored in the Switch 2 version, permanently. Although adult content can be censored on all platforms, players could toggle it on or off on PS5 and PC.

There are occasional scenes of nudity in Dispatch, including poking nipples and male genitals. If the visual censorship option is turned on, these sensitive body parts are covered by a black bar. On Switch 2, however, this option is turned on by default, and there is no way to turn it off.
One scene that was particularly affected was where female superhero Blonde Blazer asked her colleague, Robert Robertson, what he thought about a dress she donned for an event. The dress had Blazer’s nipples poking out of it, leading to a humorous dialogue with delicate options for the player to choose from.
AdHoc had earlier explained the reason for the permanent censorship. In a statement to Eurogamer, the developer said the game needed to meet the standards for release on the Nintendo eShop.

“Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated individually,” the developer said. “We worked with Nintendo to ensure the content within the title met the criteria to release on their platforms, but the core narrative and gameplay experience remain identical to the original release.”
The Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO), a Japanese non-profit organization responsible for assigning age-based ratings to video games, has strict guidelines regarding censorship of nudity and dismemberment in games. There are speculations that AdHoc referred to CERO in their communication, where they said “met the criteria to release” instead of Nintendo.
Nintendo issues statement on Dispatch censorship

After AdHoc released their statement on Dispatch censorship on Switch 2, there were speculations that the Mario maker was responsible for censoring content on their console. The statement from Nintendo, as shared by GoNintendo, provided further context to the explanation previously shared by AdHoc.

“Nintendo requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines,” the Switch 2 maker said.
“While we inform partners when their titles don’t meet our guidelines, Nintendo does not make changes to partner content. We also do not discuss specific content or the criteria used in making these determinations.”
