Obsidian, the developer behind Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed, announced that it has temporarily removed all its titles made with Unity from digital storefronts. The reason was due to a security vulnerability. Below is the list of games affected.
- Grounded 2 Founders Edition
- Grounded 2 Founders Pack
- Avowed Premium Edition
- Avowed Premium Edition Upgrade
- Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition
- Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate
- Pentiment
Obsidian said the decision to pull the affected games from digital storefronts was precautionary and to keep players safe. The games will remain offline while the studio works to “implement the necessary updates to address the issue”.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Obsidian said on its social media platforms. “Our team is working on a fix and will restore these games as soon as possible.”
It is not clear how long the affected titles will be offline. Obsidian Entertainment is gearing up for the release of The Outer Worlds 2 on October 29, 2025. Thankfully, the title is unlikely to be affected by the security vulnerability impacting games made with Unity.
The Outer Worlds 2 was developed using Unreal Engine 5, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, which was made with Unreal Engine 4. The impact of the new engine will be evident in improved graphics and more of everything else.
“We will provide additional information once they are available again. We also encourage players who have already downloaded these games to update them as soon as a patch becomes available,” Obsidian said.
It is unclear if players who already have these games installed should be worried. Also, what the developer did not mention was how long the games will remain offline or the nature of the security vulnerability.
