When Kojima Productions’ OD launches, actor Udo Kier will not be there to cheer it. The German actor who has starred in over 200 movies and games died at 81. The sad news was confirmed by his partner, Delbert McBride.

The actor died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in a hospital in Palm Springs, California. The news was earlier announced by his photographer friend, Michael Childers, on social media. What was not disclosed was the cause of his death.

Udo Kier was famous for playing villains, and his piercing stare is hard to miss. He wasn’t shy of portraying controversial roles, including Nazis and vampires. “I like horror films,” he said once, “because if you play small or guest parts in movies, it is better to be evil and scare people than be the guy who works in the post office and goes home to his wife and children. Audience will remember you more”.

Udo Kier’s video game features include several adaptations, like BloodRayne and Far Cry. In video games, Kier was famous for playing military roles. He brought the role of Dr. Peter Staub to life in Call of Duty: WWII, Yuri in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, and Erich in Martha is Dead.

Udo Kier is one of the cast of the upcoming horror game from Kojima Productions. It is unclear how far OD development has come and whether the death of the actor will affect the game in any way.
