Earlier this month, Nintendo secured a patent for the gameplay mechanic where players could summon characters to fight another. The Japanese gaming giant has also previously taken Pocketpair to court over Palworld. Well, in what would look like an act of defiance, Pocketpair has launched a new Steam page for their upcoming game called Palworld: Palfarm.
While there is no release date yet for Palfarm, players can already have a feel of what the game would look like through the Steam page. The vast majority of the Pals from Palworld will feature in the upcoming spinoff.

“Enjoy a farming life with mysterious creatures known as Pals!” read the game’s official blurb. “Team up with them to grow your farm at your own pace in this brand-new creature-collecting farming sim, fully playable in multiplayer!”
“Move to an island where Pals live and have them help with farm work, cook alongside them, shop at stores they run, or gather materials to expand your farm. Show your gratitude to the Pals who help you each day by giving them gifts.
What features will Palworld: Palfarm have?
The central theme of Palworld: Palfarm will be farming and managing your farm. Working closely with the special abilities of Pals, players will transform barren land into thriving farms. However, players will often be tasked with defending their farm from ferocious pals that are often lurking around.
What is Palworld without pals with a gun? Palfarm will also feature gun-wielding pals, who will shoot creature that intrudes into your farm. Just like first-person shooters, players can loot defeated enemies—but the reward will not always be juicy.

The upcoming Palworld spinoff will also feature a marketplace run by residents where you can buy and sell crops and crafted items. On lucky visits, players will find rare items there. Pocketpair also teased “a forbidden black market hidden away on the island’s far side” where you can buy guns and suspicious fertilizers.
Nintendo is notorious when it comes to using its legal might to protect its intellectual properties. All eyes will be on the Pokémon maker to see if it will employ the same tactics in protecting its patents. If it does, then it will have more than Palworld to contend with because the upcoming Honkai: Nexus Anima and DokeV features a similar gameplay mechanic.
