Capcom announced through its social media platforms that its upcoming installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Requiem, has been wishlisted 1 million times. This is a major milestone and suggests another commercial success for the Japanese video game maker/publisher.
While the number of wishlists doesn’t automatically translate to sales, it tells the developer the number of people interested in the title. Not everyone who wishlisted a game ends up making a purchase. Nevertheless, 1 million wishlists help to market the game by creating a FOMO effect.

“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the over one million of you who wishlisted #ResidentEvilRequiem!” was the caption of an image with the installment’s main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, shared by the developer.
Resident Evil Requiem has a February 21, 2026, release date. Although there is no guarantee that the date will not be moved. Anticipating fans can bank on the rarity of that happening with Capcom titles, and keep their eyes and minds locked on that date.
“Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series,” read the game’s description on Steam. “Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.”
For the upcoming installment, Capcom is leveraging technological advancements with the development team’s depth of experience to deliver a story with rich characters and gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before.

Players will be returning to Racoon City, a midwestern city in the United States and the headquarters of the Umbrella Corporation, which is now a symbol of disaster and despair. The government approved the sterilization of the city in 1998 following the zombie outbreak. The missile strike on the city was covered up.
The last installment in the series, Resident Evil Village, sold three million copies in the first four days of being on the market. Capcom announced that the game’s first-ever hands-on public demo will be available at Gamescom 2025. We will likely see a new trailer at the Opening Night Live, too.
