“Joining the wave of layoffs that has been shaking the video game industry in recent times, we regret to announce that our studio, Secret 6 Madrid, is facing the potential closure of its doors on July 31st,” Menéndez shared on LinkedIn.

“This decision has been made solely by the corporate group that acquired Secret 6 in 2022 and is based on strategic reasons beyond our control. Unfortunately, all our efforts to reverse the situation have been unsuccessful.

“We face this situation with deep sadness at the injustice it represents, but also with the strong conviction that this team is made up of brilliant professionals: people with talent, commitment, and an immense passion for their work, who will continue to fight to the very end to keep doing what they do best.”

Secret 6 is a video game art outsourcing and co-development studio. The Madrid Studio was opened in 2018 and initially focused on 3D art for AAA titles. Secret 6 Madrid has provided game assets to numerous high-profile releases, including Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Other projects they have worked on, according to Moby Games, include:

  • Sunderfolk (2025)
  • Unknown9: Awakening (2024)
  • Dustborn (2024)
  • Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story (2023)
  • Silent Hill: Ascension (2023)
  • Lord of the Fallen (2023)
  • Wizardry: Providing Grounds of the Mad Overlord (2023)
  • As Dusk Falls (2022)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (2020)
  • The Last of Us Part II (2020)
  • Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem (2019)
  • MediEvil (2019)
  • Draugen (2019)
  • Blood & Truth (2019)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)

Several factors have been blamed for the mass layoffs in the video game industry, including the increased adoption of AI tools and corporate greed. However, the latter appears to be at play in this case.
