The restructuring proposal announced at Ubisoft has put the roles of up to 60 employees at Ubisoft RedLynx at risk. According to the proposal, Ubisoft RedLynx is expected to transition from a multiplatform developer into a mobile game studio.

“Today is a tough day for us at Ubisoft RedLynx,” wrote the Helsinki-based subsidiary on its social networks. “We announced a restructuring proposal as part of Ubisoft’s global efforts to simplify, reduce costs, and ensure a stronger prioritization and efficiency across the company’s worldwide studio network. If materialized, this proposal would result in the reduction of our Production and Shared Services teams.”
“If implemented, the proposed changes would refocus us from a multiplatform setup to a studio specialized in small screens. This would enable us to position ourselves for sustainable success and optimize our resources to best leverage the studio’s unique expertise—starting with two unannounced mobile projects we’re leading.”
Ubisoft RedLynx said it will collectively negotiate the proposal with its staff, particularly the administration and production teams. The restructuring in the studio is not expected to affect the technology team working on Ubisoft’s Snowdrop game engine. The collective negotiation will begin on October 30 and conclude before the end of November.
“This proposal reflects difficult choices we may need to make, and it comes after careful consideration,” said Celine Pasula, Managing Director of Ubisoft RedLynx. “We recognize the weight of this announcement and want to acknowledge the impact this proposal may have on individuals and teams.”
“We are confident that, with the proposed changes, RedLynx would continue to play a meaningful role in Ubisoft’s future—driving technical excellence on mobile devices, and strengthening Ubisoft’s cross and multi-platform capabilities on small screens to expand our audience reach.”
Before the current proposal, Ubisoft RedLynx said it had a vision of crafting unforgettable gaming experiences across all screens, big and small. If the proposal materializes, they will have to rewrite that vision.
RedLynx collaborated with Massive Entertainment on Star Wars Outlaws and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. They also played a major role in bringing Star Wars Outlaws to Nintendo Switch 2.
