Several people have already started imagining what an AI-generated game will feel like. Co-founder and CEO of Qworld.Ai, Sohaib Qadri wrote, “Games that develop fun NPC conversations on the fly would be a good start. But eventually augmenting the procedurally generated worlds concept with the help of AI could take things to another level. Imaging a No Mans Sky but AI powered imaginative worlds.”
Another user with the handle @JsnVem wrote “the shift from “games you play” to “games that generate themselves around you” means every playthrough becomes a different product we’re moving toward entertainment that doesn’t exist until you boot it up no two people will play the same game, which makes talking about games harder but playing them lonelier”.
The co-founder of Kickslane Aryan (@aryanlabde) has a different opinion of an AI-generated game, “Imagine playing a game that learns your style, adapts to your emotions, and builds new missions in real time. That’s not sci-fi anymore, that’s next year with AI”.
XAI will not be the first to use AI-generated content in games
The use of AI in different aspects of game development is not new, but a game made entirely using an AI tool will set a new bar. The current AI tools are mostly exploited in world design and to make NPCs more conversational and better reactive to their environment.

There is usually a backlash when AI tools are used for anything else in games besides procedurally-generated worlds and NPCs. Many studios, including 11 Bit Studios, had to issue an explanation when it was discovered that they used AI in The Alters.
Games created with AI are often described as soulless, regardless of how engaging their gameplay may be. Some of these sentiments are linked to the notion that the use of AI is a reason for the mass layoffs in the gaming industry. It will be interesting to see how gamers will react to XAI Game Studio’s AI-generated game come 2026.
