The Brainrot skins, which include Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappuccina, came to the Fortnite Item Shop on April 3, 2026. It was heavily teased in late March 2026 and represents a significant addition to the game’s skin roster this year, although divisive.

The majority of skins that have come to Fortnite have been from popular games, TV series, movies, and celebrities. However, some internet memes have also found their way to the item shop. An example that is still fresh in mind was the release of Skibidi Toilet cosmetics in late 2024.

Brainrot skins are believed to be based on “AI-generated” designs, which doesn’t sit well with a lot of players.  The entire bundle, which contains 6 items, costs 4,300 V-bucks. However, Epic Games is offering a 1,900 discount for players who purchase the entire set. This brings down the price to 2,400 V-bucks.

The use of AI-generated content in games remains a thorny topic in the community because they are blamed for the mass layoffs in the industry. It is even a bad timing, considering that Epic Games recently laid off 1,000 employees because of declining Fortnite activity.

On X, a Fortnite fan and popular leaker @ShiinaBR shared an image of the Fortnite Item Shop that shows the Brainrot skins have become the best sellers, as of April 3, 2026, just hours after their addition.

Many gamers don’t trust the Brainrot skins best seller’s claim

Today's best seller on Epic Game Store

When you visit the Fortnite Item Shop, you will have lots of different filters to sort your search. One of them is the “Today’s Best Sellers”. However, a lot of gamers think the filter is just a marketing gimmick, rather than the actual representation of the activities in the shop.

Responding to ShiinaBR’s post, @ratiowontmis wrote, “’Today’s Best Sellers’ is just a selling gimmick to lure more people into buying this crap.”

Corroborating that opinion, @Sogeking2_2 wrote, “The tab is fake everyday, we all know that”.

@CobaltKnight26 brought the AI topic up, “After that AI Wood Man skin got me last night in OG. I’m done after this season. This game is just going to get worse and worse and since they are giving up on the metaverse idea, I don’t want to play the BR shit anymore.”

For now, it is hard to tell if the numbers are real or not, unless Epic Games releases the stats from the backend. However, there are lots of comments indicating that some have purchased and even fallen in love with the skins.
