Georgia skating pair Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava won the silver medal at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics 2026. Their Mortal Kombat performance during an exhibition gala dressed as Kitana and Sub-Zero has got everyone talking.
The duo lost the gold spot to the Japanese athletes. Nevertheless, the silver medal was also historic for them because it put Georgia on the medal table at the Winter Olympics.

At the exhibition gala on Saturday, the Georgian skaters offered the guests entertainment in a way they had never seen before. Since it was a freestyle event with no judging panel or medals, the skaters had the freedom to be as creative as ever. The Mortal Kombat Techno Syndrome theme song filled the arena, spicing up the performance.

Before the start of the performance, Metelkina said, “I heard that today there’s an amazing figure skating show, so we can go there”.
Berulava replied, “Oh no, I’m too lazy to go somewhere. I think we should play computer games.”
Metelkina said she doesn’t know how to play, and Berulava offered to teach her. Afterward, they removed their jackets to reveal their Mortal Kombat-themed costumes. Berulava won the first round and chose “friendship”, an infamous finisher in Mortal Kombat.
The second round was more dramatic, filled with lots of spinning and artistry, performed to perfection, to the admiration of the audience. This time, Metelkina won and chose “fatality”, bringing the performance to an end.
This is not the first time that video game has featured at the Olympics. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics opener, music from 14 video games was played during the Parade of Nations, including Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
