Last week, we reported that Capcom issued a stern warning to players uploading videos of Resident Evil Requiem ahead of the game’s launch. Resident Evil 2 director Hideki Kamiya has disclosed what should happen to players who spoil the upcoming release.

“I remember back with Bio2 (Resident Evil 2: Biohazard), the late-game plot twist got totally scooped by some weekly photo magazine,” Kamiya wrote while sharing the message from Capcom.
“For your own selfish satisfaction, you’re trampling all over the feelings of users who were looking forward to it, and the feelings of the creators who poured their all into making it—a detestable act that destroys everyone’s happiness and deserves a thousand deaths… May you be cursed to never play games again.”
Resident Evil Requiem will launch this Friday, February 27, but physical copies have already been in circulation for over a week. Kamiya spent time with Capcom before joining PlatinumGames, where he spent 17 years. He founded a new studio, Clovers, in 2023.
Kamiya is once again collaborating with Capcom on a new game in the Okami series. Capcom has continued to build hype around the upcoming release with a daily countdown.
