King of Meat will shut down its servers on April 9, 2026. This is a sudden end to a game that launched on October 7, 2025. Developed by Glowmade and published by Amazon Game Studios, the game has struggled to find an audience, despite aggressive marketing.

“Despite the creativity and innovation Glowmade brought to King of Meat, the game has unfortunately not found the audience we hoped for,” the developers said in an update published on the game’s official website.

“As a result, we have made the difficult decision to conclude our investment in the game, and King of Meat’s servers will close on April 9, 2026. Players will be able to access and play all existing content until then, so we encourage you to enjoy your remaining time in the game with your fellow Contenders.”
In the coming weeks, players who purchased the game will start receiving a full refund for the game and Stamp packs purchased from their platform provider. King of Meat is a co-op platformer, pitting up to four players against community-built dungeons filled with puzzles to solve. Players challenge to traverse and fight ridiculous monsters. Those who progress through the chaotic dungeons unlock new abilities and gear.

“We want to sincerely thank every player who supported King of Meat and the wonderful community that formed around it. Your enthusiasm, imagination, and feedback have meant the world to us and to the team at Glowmade. We’re grateful for Glowmade’s partnership and passion throughout this journey and wish them continued success in the future.”
Once the servers are shut down on April 9, 2026, the game will no longer be playable. Starting February 23, 2026, King of Meat will be unavailable on all storefronts, and in-game purchases for Stamps have been disabled.
King of Meat struggled in a crowded live service game market
The live service game genre is believed to be a crowded market with lots of competing titles in front of an audience that is not growing. King of Meat was not entirely a bad game. It garnered a Metascore of 75 on Xbox Series X, 72 on PC, and 70 on PS5.

On Steam, the reviews were mostly positive. The developer and publisher also tried to draw in players with aggressive marketing that included a multi-million-dollar video from Mr. Beast’s gaming YouTube channel and draping buses in London with the game’s poster. It was even hoped that the game would have an animated TV show.

According to Insider Gaming’s exclusive report, the leadership hoped the game would reach at least 100,000 concurrent players. However, that never happened. On Steam, the game only hit 320 peak concurrent players on November 15. The disastrous launch led to the layoff of several developers at Glowmade.
