Ubisoft today announced new members of the leadership team that will drive the ambitious new chapter of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Martin Schelling will be the head of the Assassin’s Creed brand, Jean Guesdon the head of content, and François De Billy the head of production excellence.

New Assassin's Creed leadership

Fans of the franchise should be familiar with these names already, which is the reason for the excitement. The trio brings a lot of franchise experience to their new roles, having worked on previous installments.

For example, Schelling previously worked as a producer and senior producer on many AC titles, including Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla. He is expected to leverage his previous experience to lead the franchise team, the overall strategy, long-term vision, and development of the franchise.

Guesdon worked as creative director on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Origins. He also worked on Assassin’s Creed II. He is tasked with leading the creative direction of the franchise, supporting ongoing projects, and helping to shape the future of the franchise, ensuring that it remains true to its DNA.

“It is wonderful to be back after all these years,” Guesdon said. “Assassin’s Creed has been a defining part of my professional life, and being back feels like coming home. This universe, these characters, these worlds, and of course the community have always meant so much to me.”

I’m especially grateful to be sharing this journey with all of you again, and look forward to sharing more about the next steps ahead for the franchise. Until then…. Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.”

Black flag

Billy contributed to many major Assassin’s Creed titles, including Black Flag and Revelation. More recently, he was the production director on AC Origins and AC Valhalla. He is expected to support the teams by strengthening production practices and execution across the franchise.

AC fans are excited that this time, Ubisoft appointed people who are veterans in the franchise to head the creative unit, unlike what happened with Vantage Studios. One Redditor commented, “Fantastic appointments. All veterans who were involved in the creation of some of the best games in the series”.
