Last week, several former employees of 10 Chambers confirmed through LinkedIn posts that they had been laid off. Team Lead programmer Krister Cederlund said “lots of incredibly talented, experienced, and genuinely great people” are now looking for new opportunities because of a “recent restructure at 10 Chambers”.

The studio’s co-founder and chief development officer, Hjalmar Vikström, also announced his departure after spending a decade there. He posted a “goodbye” to his former studio on LinkedIn with no reason given for the decision. The former co-founder was part of those affected by the restructure.

“If you know me you’ve heard this before: Making games is hard,” Vikström wrote. “And these past years have taken their toll. But thinking back I’m proud of how we managed to punch above our weight and deliver GTFO.”

The reported job cuts at 10 Chambers would be the second in two years. A spokesperson from the studio confirmed the recent layoff to Game Developer, saying the layoff will impact “a large number of employees”. The spokesperson added that the layoff was necessary to position the upcoming FPS Den of Wolves for success.

Den of Wolves by 10 Chambers

“We can confirm that we’re taking a hard look at how we work and how the studio is set up, so Den of Wolves can become the game it deserves to be. This unfortunately means a significant restructuring of the studio, impacting a large number of roles, including several of the studio’s co-founders,” the spokesperson explained.

“We recognize these changes are difficult, and we’re approaching them thoughtfully. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t comment on individual situations. We remain focused on the vision of Den of Wolves. Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund remain fully committed to the game and to leading the studio forward. When we have more concrete news to share, we’ll do it through our official channels.”

What about Den of Wolves, 10 Chambers’ upcoming FPS

Den of Wolves is being developed and published by 10 Chambers. The co-op heist FPS is from the creators of Payday: The Heist, Payday 2, and GTFO. In the upcoming techno-thriller, you and your friends operate as criminals for hire in the conflicts between rival corporations in Midway City.

Breaking the vault

You will gather your crew, design the plan, gear up, and execute the heist. “With Den of Wolves, we are creating an action-packed techno-thriller – a session-based cooperative heist shooter where you can make your mark whether you have 20 minutes or 2 hours to play,” explained the developer. You can Wishlist the game on Steam.

Developer 10 Chambers has the vision of becoming the best cooperative FPS developer in the world. The studio is located in the heart of Stockholm, Sweden. The studio is housed in the former Royal Institute of Technology.

Mass layoffs in the gaming industry have slowed to trickles, which is a welcome development compared to the thousands of people laid off in 2023 and 2024. GameBaba Universe wishes everyone impacted by the layoff the best in their future endeavors.
