Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer mode World Premiere happened a few hours ago. Fans of the franchise learned about the new features coming to the game. Two announcements that would definitely excite fans of the franchise are that the multiplayer mode will have no battle pass or pay-to-win.

Noah Benesch, the senior product manager, said, “When it comes to collecting and growing your own collection of customization items in E-Day, we’ve taken a more old-school inspired approach.”

“That means nearly every single piece of customization in E-Day can be earned by just playing the game. You’ll unlock new items through completing seasonal and event challenges, unlocking achievements, and by earning medals from our Classic Medal System. Everything else can be obtained by completing matches and earning coins, which unlock items in the Barracks.”
While microtransactions are not the primary focus of Gears Of War: E-Day Multiplayer, unlike some other popular franchises, it will still have paid content. Speaking at the Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer world premiere, Benesch said, “We’ll have a few things that are pay-only, but they’re limited to our Premium Edition items and charity or partner content like the Ride the Lightning Weapon Skin set we’ve created in partnership with Metallica”.

The launch of Gears Of War: E-Day is only the beginning because every season will introduce new Cog and Locust characters and add new weapon skins, poses, customization elements, challenges, medals, and events.
“All of this is to say there’s no battle pass. No pay to win. No bullsh*t,” said Benesch. “Play what you want, chase the unlocks you think are the coolest, and we’ll have themed seasonal updates that bring in loads of new kick-as* content.”
Gears of War: E-day multiplayer modes explained

The upcoming release will have different modes that players can choose from. One of the modes explained by the developers is the Horde Siege. Here, players will choose one of the four distinct classes: Assault, Marksman, Breacher, and Medic. Each of the classes will have distinct tactical gear, playstyle, and progression system for weapons, armor mods, and gear mods.

Gears of War: E-day multiplayer modes will have both main and side missions. The main objective is usually securing and protecting rigs. Side objectives will feature timed missions, like eliminating a high-value target, delivering cores, defusing explosives, and more. Although side missions are optional, they reward players with resources that can be used for weapon upgrades or spent on cosmetics.

Gears of War: E-day multiplayer will offer instances where different teams will collaborate (up to 12 players) to take down powerful bosses. In such instances, players can revive members of other squads. After such collaborations, every team that participated will share the loot, although the first team to get to the loot will take the juicier rewards.
At the end of the main objective, players will need to fight one last wave of enemies while waiting for the arrival of their extraction chopper. Although it is not mandatory that all players must return to the chopper, there is a penalty for leaving a man behind.
Gears of War: E-day multiplayer versus modes

The Versus mode allows players to test their skills with other players. The Player versus Player (PvP) matches will play with all mods stripped off. Every player will have the same loadout, and battle will take place on symmetrical arenas.

New maps, modes, and events will be added to the game post-launch. Players experiencing Gears of War for the first time can get familiar with the basics and combat via a boot camp. Fans can play with other players or with bots, or climb the leaderboard via ranked matches.
