Posts emerging on LinkedIn from people who worked at Bluepoint Games appear to confirm the report that Sony has shut down the studio. Sony acquired the studio in 2021, shortly after the release of Demon’s Souls on PS5.

Often called a remake studio, Bluepoint Games has been instrumental in enhancing legacy titles for the current-gen consoles, including Shadow of the Colossus and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

According to a Bloomberg report, the studio’s closure will lead to the layoff of around 70 employees from a total of 80. A PlayStation spokesperson said the decision was a culmination of “a business review”. The final studio closure is scheduled to happen next month.
“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community,” said the PlayStation spokesperson. “We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftmanship.”
In 2024, it was widely reported that the studio was working on an original title. The head of technology said at that time that “Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title”. The studio was also reportedly working on a God of War live-service game, which was canceled last year.
