An undisclosed number of employees were laid off at Electronic Arts last week. It is believed that the employees impacted are not actively involved in game development. Earlier this year, in March precisely, several studios backing Battlefield suffered layoffs.

The recurring waves of layoffs are happening on the heels of the company’s $55 billion sale to the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. Although Electronic Arts has yet to publicly talk about the recent layoffs, it was confirmed through public posts and insider sources.

GameBaba Universe spotted a few posts from last week from people who were impacted by the latest round of layoffs. One person wrote on LinkedIn, “Unfortunately, I have been affected by the recent layoffs. I’m seeking a new role and would appreciate your support.”
Anthony Langdon, who worked as a content writer, also confirmed that he was laid off from Electronic Arts. In a post on LinkedIn, he wrote, “During my time in EA’s Fan Care organization, I led initiatives in SEO and AEO, ticket-in-hand for the rollercoaster that’s been the search industry over the past few years. We accomplished a lot to ensure fans received help with their issues in a timely manner, and had the opportunity to launch (and play) a ton of exciting games.”
It is believed that remote workers in the United States were affected, as well as employees at Electronic Arts’ Hyderabad office in India. An email sent to employees in EA Fan Care explained that the layoffs were intended to “adapt how we work to better meet fans’ changing needs”.
“As part of this evolution, we are making or proposing to make changes to some roles, creating new roles, and moving certain work to different teams, locations, or service partners.”
We empathize with everyone impacted by the latest round of layoffs at Electronic Arts and hope they find a soft landing soon.
