Earlier this week, we learned that Ubisoft has shut its Winnipeg and Belgrade studios and is terminating roles in its Barcelona studios. Today marks the last working day for some of those impacted by the layoff.

Around 380 jobs were lost from the layoffs and studio closures. The two studios that were shut down worked as support studios for several Ubisoft titles. For example, the Belgrade team worked on The Crew 2, Skull and Bones, and others. Ubisoft Winnipeg worked on Far Cry 6 and the company’s Snowdrop and Anvil engines.

Ubisoft Barcelona, which has previously worked on Assassin’s Creed and The Division, will undergo restructuring to focus exclusively on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. Back in January 2026, Ubisoft shuttered its Halifax and Stockholm studios. For some of those impacted by the latest layoff round, their last working day is today.

“After almost 6 years, today is my official last day at Ubisoft,” wrote tool programmer Claudi Lazaro Gil. “It’s been an incredible journey since I joined in August 2020. From my first three years with the Custo Team to my time with Physics & Destruction Core tech team, I didn’t just work with immense talent, I found a family and made lifelong friends.”

Since 2025, the French developer and publisher has been going through restructuring. Last year alone, around 1,500 roles were terminated across the company, including the closure of its Leamington Spa studio.

Several other people impacted by the closure of the Belgrade studio and the layoff have openly talked about it on social media. One of them was lead user interface artist Aleksandar Nedovic, who wrote,

“As many of you have probably already seen, Ubisoft Belgrade is being closed. The last 7 and a half years have been an incredible journey, from Junior UI to Senior Lead Artist, working on amazing projects, learning from some of the best people in the industry, and above all meeting very good people.”

Associate director, global marketing, Leslie Kim wrote, “Yesterday was my last day at Ubisoft, as I was impacted by mass layoffs, alongside many talented coworkers. I’m proud of the relationships formed, teams built, and culture created during these past 10+ years…and of course, I also worked on some pretty cool launches and projects.”

Ubisoft restructuring is far from over as the company pushes towards cutting its expenditures. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising to read about another round of layoffs in a few months.
