Fall is just around the corner. For gamers, this year brings lots of excitement—and it is easy to guess why. Starting from September through to the end of the year, lots of triple-A games will be coming to the hands of gamers.

Virtually all the triple-A games releasing in September have been showcased at different game events. Make no mistake, the games on this list are not the only ones releasing this September. Rather, they are the games you should not miss. Without further chitchats, let’s dive right in.

1. Starfield (September 6)

Starfield is Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in 29 years. Therefore, it is not surprising that there has been insane hype around the game since its release date was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Starfield is an action RPG that promises an insane level of exploration and customization. Those who pre-ordered the Constellation Edition or the Premium Edition had a 5-day early start. The rest must wait until September 6 to have a feel of the game.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3 (September 6)

At some point, Baldur’s Gate 3 was the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation Store. The game was first released on PC via Steam on August 3 but will come to PlayStation 5 on September 6. There is still no set date for the release of the game on Xbox. Baldur’s Gate 3 is an RPG developed by Larian Studios and the third main installment in the series. There are reports the game will have 17,000 possible endings. The reviews on Steam have been generally favorable with a peak of 875,000 concurrent players. Those are really insane numbers!

3. NBA 2K24 (September 8)

New NBA action will return on September 8. The basketball sim by 2K Games will be available on all major consoles upon release. It was reported that the game will have an expanded roster of NBA and WNBA players. Other interesting upgrades scheduled for the game include revamped shooting systems, takeovers, and adrenaline boosts. For the first time in the history of the franchise, cross-platform play will be allowed. That means players on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 can compete against each other. It would be interesting to see this level of cooperation spread across every other triple-A game.

4. Mortal Kombat 1 (September 19)

After the announcement of Mortal Kombat 1 at the Summer Games Fest, NetherRealm Studios gradually filled up the character roster with trifles of new player announcements at every major game event. The last reveal happened at Gamescom 2023. Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the entire franchise as NetherRealm attempts to rewrite the story of the characters and worlds. Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a new combat system involving Kameo characters. If you love fighting games, Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the triple-A games you should anticipate this September. It will be available across all platforms.

5. Lies of P (September 19)

Lies of P is one of the triple-A games scheduled for September release. Created by Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio, the RPG holds a lot of promise based on what we saw from the demo released a few months ago. Lies of P follows the story of a humanoid puppet Pinocchio who woke up in an abandoned train station in the city of Krat. Pinocchio must find his creator through the madness that has engulfed the city. When released on September 19, it will be available on PC, PS4|PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S.

6. Payday 3 (September 21)

Fans of the Payday franchise will welcome the third installment of the franchise on September 21. The first-person shooter was developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by Deep Silver. The release date was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcase. Payday 3 will pick up from where the last game ended—when the heisters went their separate ways, leaving their lives of crime behind. However, that repentance didn’t last for long as they reconverged again to continue what they know how to do best. Set in New York, Payday 3 will feature 2 new characters in addition to the four legacy characters.

7. Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty (September 26)

CD Projekt Red announced that Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26. The game is an expansion of the open-world ARPG Cyberpunk 2077 released by the studio in 2020. Although the base game had a buggy start, Phantom Liberty promises to be better with an expanded environment, cosmetics, and combat system. One of the notable additions to the game is vehicle combat which will allow players to shoot while driving. It is one of the biggest triple-A games releasing in September.

8. EA Sports FC 24 (September 29)

Wrapping up the list of triple-A games that will be released in September is EA Sports FC 24. After a fallout with FIFA, EA Sports was forced to drop the FIFA nameplate from their game. Consequently, EA Sports FC 24 was born. It will be the first game in the series, although it carries over influences from the severed relationship era. One of the coolest announcements about EA Sports FC 24 was that real-world actions by players—including goal celebrations and playstyles—will be added to the game in a matter of days. The game will be available across all the main consoles when released.
