Night Street Games has acknowledged that Last Flag has failed to meet the desired player target. Consequently, they are unable to continue supporting the game with new content beyond what has already been planned.

Night Street Games is an indie studio founded in 2020 with its headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their goal from the start was to craft competitive multiplayer experiences. According to the studio’s LinkedIn profile, they have around 27 employees.

“Five years ago, we set out to build a game that captured the fun of playing real-life capture the flag,” read the message from the studio on Discord.
“As an indie studio, we knew that we couldn’t possibly match the pace and scale of the AAA competition, so we didn’t build a ‘live service’ free-to-play game. Our hope was that we could find a sustainable audience by offering a complete game experience at an affordable price—one with no battle passes or microtransactions—and to win over players by making it with heart and doing it our way.
If you’ve been following the Steam charts, you already know that Last Flag has been unable to find the audience it needs to give all of you the experience you deserve. But that doesn’t mean we’re about to throw in the towel. The financial reality of our situation means we’re unlikely to be able to support additional development (including console, for now) beyond some upcoming patches.”

This doesn’t mean the game will be shutting down. Instead, Night Street Games has lined up a long list of updates that will be available to players in the coming months, including:
- Tenth character
- A new map
- Brand new game mode
- Cosmetics
- Leaderboards
Ability for the community to set up custom lobbies with alternate game rules. An abridged version of the message was posted on the Last Flag’s Steam page.
“Our game belongs to you now, and we hope to continue capturing flags with you for years to come. In the meantime, we’ll see you on the battlefield—and we hope you’ll tune in for what comes next from Night Street Games.”
A look back at Night Street Games and Last Flag

Night Street Games launched Last Flag on Steam and the Epic Games Store on April 14, 2026. The game was inspired by childhood memories. The studio was founded by Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, and his brother Mac Reynolds. Last Flag, a 5v5 competitive shooter, is their debut title.

Before its launch, Last Flag was in the top 1% of Steam Wishlist. The development of the game lasted nearly 5 years. Apparently, the goodwill the game enjoyed before launch didn’t translate to sales after launch.
At the time of writing, the game had fewer than 500 reviews on Steam. Only 74% of those reviews were positive. Instead of making the game free-to-play and depending on microtransactions for profit, Last Flag was sold for $14.99.

Notwithstanding the lowered entry barrier, the game only attracted 558 peak concurrent players with fewer than 100 daily players. Last Flag is currently compared to other live-service shooters like Concord and Highguard that shut down soon after launch.
