Late February 2026, French video game publisher and holdings company, Nacon, filed for insolvency. A month later, several Nacon subsidiaries, including GreedFall developer Spiders, also filed for insolvency. The latest update from Spiders has confirmed that the studio is now liquidated.

“Hello everyone,” began the message posted by the studio on Facebook. “First off, we apologize for the silence over the past month – it’s been a while.”

“We’re going to cut straight to the chase so you’re not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We’ll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then– well, that’s it.
We’re sorry that it’s come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we’ll no longer be able to reply.”

Steelrising
Spiders is a French-based video game studio founded in 2008, focused on creating original ideas, both in terms of universe and gameplay. The studio was acquired by Bigben Interactive (now Nacon) in 2019.
While the studio existed, they used the Silk Engine, developed in-house, for their production. At its peak, Spiders employed more than 90 people, in addition to several freelancers and authors. In 2024, the studio received a score of 94/100 on the Gender Equality Index.
Before its shuttering, Spiders had a growing portfolio of shipped games, including Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper, Faery: Legends of Avalon, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Of Orcs and Men, Mars: War Logs, Bound by Flame, Technomancer, GreedFall 1&2, and Steelrising.
